We use cookies minimally and only where genuinely necessary. No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, no profiling. This page tells you exactly what cookies are set on keehelper.com, why, and how to control them.
A plain-English explanation of what cookies are and how they work
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, phone, tablet) when you visit it. They are stored in your browser and can be read by the website that set them on future visits.
Cookies are used for many different purposes — from keeping you logged in, to remembering your preferences, to tracking your behaviour across multiple websites for advertising. KeeHelper only uses cookies in the first two categories (essential and basic functional). We never use cookies to track you across other websites.
Every cookie set on keehelper.com, who sets it, and why
| Cookie / Storage Key | Set By | Type | Expiry | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics (if enabled) |
Analytics | 2 years | Distinguishes unique browser sessions for aggregate traffic counting. IP is anonymised before processing. No personal profile is created. Used only to understand which tools are popular. |
| _ga_XXXXXXXX | Google Analytics (if enabled) |
Analytics | 2 years | Stores and counts page view sessions for the specific GA4 property. Works alongside _ga cookie for aggregate session measurement. |
| cf_clearance | Cloudflare (security layer) |
Essential | 30 minutes – 24 hours | Set by Cloudflare (our CDN and DDoS protection layer) to confirm that a browser has passed a security challenge. Required for site security and bot protection. |
| __cf_bm | Cloudflare | Essential | 30 minutes | Cloudflare Bot Management cookie. Distinguishes human visitors from automated bots to protect the platform from abuse and ensure availability for all users. |
| NID / 1P_JAR | Google Fonts CDN (fonts.googleapis.com) |
Functional | 6 months | Google may set cookies when fonts are loaded from fonts.googleapis.com. These are functional cookies related to font delivery. Google's use of data from their CDN is governed by Google's privacy policy. We use Google Fonts purely to render the page typography (Plus Jakarta Sans, DM Sans, JetBrains Mono). |
| localStorage items | KeeHelper (some tools) |
Functional | Until cleared | Some KeeHelper tools may use browser localStorage (not a cookie — stored locally only, never transmitted) to temporarily remember your most recent inputs within a session, to avoid re-entering the same values. This data is never sent to our servers. |
| Bootstrap state | Bootstrap JS (jsDelivr CDN) |
Essential | Session | Bootstrap's JavaScript (loaded from jsDelivr CDN) manages interactive UI components such as the mobile navigation toggle, dropdowns, and modals. State is session-only and cleared when you close the browser tab. |
The external services KeeHelper uses and what data they may access
KeeHelper uses a small number of third-party services to deliver fonts, JavaScript libraries, CDN hosting, and basic analytics. Each of these services may set their own cookies or collect limited data according to their own privacy policies.
The cookie types and tracking technologies you will never find on KeeHelper
The following are explicitly not used on keehelper.com:
Under what legal grounds we place cookies on your device
Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the EU ePrivacy Directive, we are required to have a legal basis for placing cookies on your device.
Your options for managing, blocking, and deleting cookies on your device
You have full control over cookies stored in your browser. You can view, delete, and block cookies at any time using your browser's built-in settings. Note that blocking essential cookies may affect site functionality (e.g. the mobile navigation may not work correctly), but will not prevent you from using any of KeeHelper's calculators or tools.
To prevent Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. This works across all websites that use Google Analytics, not just KeeHelper.
You can also configure your browser to send a Do Not Track (DNT) signal. While not all sites honour DNT signals, we take them into consideration in how we configure our analytics.
KeeHelper is designed to work without cookies wherever possible. All tool calculations run entirely in your browser as local JavaScript — they do not require any cookies to function. If you block all cookies:
How KeeHelper responds to browser-level privacy signals
Many browsers allow you to send a Do Not Track (DNT) signal or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal to websites, indicating your preference not to be tracked.
KeeHelper already tracks nothing for advertising purposes, so these signals are largely redundant for our platform. However, we acknowledge and respect these signals where technically feasible:
Given that we have no advertising cookies and our analytics are aggregate-only, our data practices already align with what DNT and GPC are designed to achieve.
How and when this cookie policy may change
This Cookie Policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes to the cookies we use, changes in applicable law, or changes to the third-party services we rely on. All changes will be published at keehelper.com/cookie-policy.html with an updated "Last updated" date.
Significant changes — such as beginning to use a new category of cookie — will be communicated via a notice on the KeeHelper homepage. Minor clarifications or updates to reflect third-party policy changes may be published without separate notice.
We will never begin using advertising cookies without making this explicitly clear, updating this page, and providing appropriate consent mechanisms.
